WAY back in the day, Ben & Jerry’s was one of my favorite ice-cream brands. Their “Berried Treasure Sorbet”, “Half Baked”, and “Chunky Monkey” were so damn good, that is until I developed a severe egg allergy and soon after gluten. I have been as gluten and egg free as possible since I was 7 years old now and I’m in my 20’s. Even though I felt better and my health improved without these ingredients, back then I thought it would be the end of certain pleasures.
As I got older, managing my Lyme disease, altering my diet further and learning how to adapt with my many allergies I realized it wouldn’t be as hard as I thought. My mother has a history in the field of integrative naturopathic medicine, and growing up in California I had a lot more options to better improve my diet and health as a whole. I eventually became “that kid” in school, and thankfully I attended a private school that let me bring my own food. Class parties, events, whatever I was the kid with my own “strange” foods and I honestly didn’t give a damn. I was proud of it, and eventually everyone became jealous, lol.
My point is, you don’t have to suffer or compromise certain pleasures just by giving up sugar, gluten, eggs, etc. But let’s cut to the chase here, I wanted to create something as close to that good o’le Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey flavor and I did. All that, less then half the sugar and easy to whip up.

This one is pure and simple, lots of nanners, bananas that is. If you’re familiar with my “No-bake Chocolate Protein Fudge” or my “Guiltless Gooey Fudgy Brownies”, then this recipe will be EASY BREEZY for ya! Simply grab 3 frozen bananas, with oat milk and blend until smooth and creamy and top with walnuts and chunks of either the protein fudge or fudgy brownies. I used my protein fudge in the pictures above, but you can refer to those two recipes to choose what version of Chunky Monkey you’d like!
Chunky Monkey Milkshake (Vegan)

The vegan version of a classic Ben & Jerry's favorite!
Ingredients
- 3 frozen bananas
- 1/2 cup oat milk
- 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
- 3 chunks either my "no-bake chocolate protein fudge" or "gooey fudgy brownies"
Instructions
- First begin by placing frozen bananas and oat milk into a high-speed blender and belnding until smooth and creamy
- Layer with chopped walnuts and fudge chunks of choice (refer to my two fudge recipes listed above)
Notes
I used my "No-Bake Chocolate Protein Fudge in the picture above), but this recipe works just as well as my "Gooey Fudgy Brownies". If you're looking for a quicker version, I suggest going with the no-bake protein bites, and in this case the protein and granola is optional 🙂
