You know what, I have always loved the taste and texture of red velvet cake. Obviously I’m referring back to the days where gluten and eggs were a part of my diet. I don’t miss feeling sick all the time, but I have to admit that I do miss little things like red velvet cake, scrambled eggs and sourdough bread.
Anyways, enough of my soliloquy. I wanted to create a protein packed smoothie that resembled red velvet, along with nutrient dense foods.

Yup, I did it! Cashew butter, dark cherries, vanilla and cocoa powder makes the perfect combo for a red velvet tasting anything. I also add in my favorite chocolate protein powder of choice, if I’d like to make this smoothie more of a breakfast as opposed to a dessert. Plop in all those ingredients and blend away. If you want a thicker consistency, I suggest using frozen fruit, and a tad less milk although this really depends on what you like.
