Oil pulling you say??? Do you have any idea how many people looked at me like I had gone bonkers just a few years ago, as I had suggested they oil pull!? Now, oil pulling is quite accepted by many, not just in Hollywood & has been around for a long time.
Oil Pulling has a variety of benefits which go on and on (not just tooth whitening, which is the most well-known benefit of course). Just a few are listed below

Of course, you’re probably wondering, how do I oil pull exactly? How do I stick to it in an affordable way? What oil do I use and why? Through my own experience with oil pulling, all I can say is that you have to get used to the sensation and routine at first, but once you do, try and keep from getting addicted!
My Routine
I usually start off with a tablespoon of pure cold-pressed raw coconut oil (you can use a teaspoon if you’re a beginner), and swish gently for 15 minutes, which can seem like forever at first. I usually suggest that beginners start off 5-10 minutes and eventually work their way to 15-20. You’ll feel an odd gooey sensation at first, before the oil melts completely. It can be difficult to “swish” at first, as your jaw may grow tired, as mine did at first, but eventually you’ll adapt to it (a strong jaw/muscle development is another benefit!). After I “pull”, I proceed to brush my teeth with Ecodent Whitening Baking Soda Tooth Powder (click here), with added hydrogen peroxide, and conclude to floss. Within just TWO DAYS of oil pulling, I noticed a drastic difference; my teeth were whiter than ever, sparkling, my gums appeared really healthy, and I felt really clean as I felt the glossy film coated around my grateful teeth! I’m no doctor, but yes, it’s true that sticking to oil pulling can help prevent disease, strengthen teeth gradually and reduce infections and bacteria growth. DO NOT ever swallow the oil, as you may swallow the toxins which are being pulled out from your teeth- the complete opposite from what you’re trying to do! (Note: If you pull twice a day (after breakfast & before bed, i’ve personally noticed my teeth become even whiter!)
How Do I Stick To Oil Pulling? Will I Break The Bank?
Well, oil pulling is in fact an incredibly cheap and resourceful way to save money, while pampering your teeth and protecting your body. A great way to save money, as opposed to purchasing small and expensive containers of coconut oil, is to buy 1-2 tubs which will last a long time. I have purchased 84oz tubs of “Organic Virgin Coconut Oil” at a time and some have lasted up to 6 months if used properly, as opposed to spending ten dollars on a “convenient” packet. If you are a Costco member, they carry a phenomenal one HERE . Otherwise, another great brand I use, is by Sister & Co Skin Food (click here) . I LOVE this brand, as they are gluten-free, suitable for Vegans, Cruelty-Free and sustainable. They also carry an Organic Raw Coconut & Activated Charcoal Tooth Whitening Paste (click here), phenomenal for stain-removal and sensitive teeth/gums.
Why Should I Use Coconut Oil As Opposed To Other Oils?
Yes, I think we can all agree that coconut oil tastes better than most other oils (especially when swished around in the mouth for 20 minutes!) Aside from this, coconut oil does make a great, organic substitute for mouthwash as it contains Vitamin E, which acts as an antioxidant, and also has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties thanks to the lauric acid and monolaurin. Coconut oil has other proven benefits, too. It contains lots of easily digestible, fat-soluble vitamins: A,D,E and K. Vitamin A is good for the immune system, Vitamin E has strong antioxidant properties for the skin and can provide some protection against UV rays, Vitamin D is good for strong bones and teeth, and Vitamin K is good for blood-clotting. Dr.Mercola has suggested that unlike oils such as olive oil, avocado oil and vegetable oil, “It is thought that the breaking down of the fatty coconut oil by the enzymes turns it into acids, which are toxic to certain bacteria.7 Enzyme-modified coconut oil was also harmful to the yeast Candida albicans, which can cause thrush. So when oil pulling is combined with the antimicrobial power of coconut oil, I believe it can be a very powerful health tool.”
So, to conclude I’ll leave you with your thoughts, and hope I’ve convinced you to begin your healing journey. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself ?
